Grandparents Day and Book Fair
Special thanks to everyone who came along to celebrate Grandparents day last Friday. It was a special day and we were blown away by the number of visitors who came and joined us.
I’d like to thank Mrs Clift, Mrs MacLean and Year 2 for their leadership and organisation of the liturgy and a massive thank you to our Year 2 parents for providing the delicious morning tea.
I’d also like to thank Mrs Buckley and her helpers for the Book Fair. It was great to see so many kids so excited about having some new books to read.
Northern Region Athletics
Congratulations to our Athletics Team of 40 students who competed at the Northern Region Carnival at Dubbo on Monday. Everyone put in an amazing effort and were great representatives of our school. We had close to 10 students qualify for the Diocesan Carnival. Congratulations to Brycen who broke the 1500m Junior Boy record. Special thanks to Mrs Buckle and Mrs Kelly who were our team officials on the day.

R.E. MATTERS - Walking in the Light
Feast of Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop - Thursday, 8th August
Mary MacKillop was very conscious of the plight of the poor and needy. She worked with families that lived in isolated areas of Australia. As a result, Mary MacKillop pioneered a new form of religious life in Australia and commenced a "system" of "Josephite" schools that would provide education, especially for the children of the poor. In 1873, Pope Pius IX gave Papal approval for the Congregation of the Sisters of Saint Joseph. Even today, many Australians can say that they too have felt the impact of the enormous work started by St Mary of the Cross (MacKillop), having been educated or cared for, by the Sisters of saint Joseph. All Hallows School is one such school.
Mary was noted for her trust in the providence of God and miracles of healing have been attributed to her. She was declared a Saint by Pope Benedict XVI on the 17th October 2010. In 2013, St Mary of the Cross MacKillop was announced as the second patron of Australia.
Year 4 have been preparing our School Liturgy for the Feast of St Mary MacKillop to be held in the Mons Frawley Hall next Thursday 8th August at 12.30pm.
Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary
We will celebrate the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary on Thursday the 15th August. On this day we celebrate Mary the Mother of Jesus being "Taken Up" into heaven. This is a Holy Day of obligation and Mass will be celebrated at 9.10am by our students with the Parishioners. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Soccer Gala Day
The St Laurence’s, Soccer Gala Day will be held on Friday 9th August, 2024 (Wk 3).

The day is held at Lady Cutler Ovals Bligh St, Dubbo and students will be travelling by bus to Dubbo.
We will be leaving at 7.00am and will NOT be back in time for the afternoon buses. We expect to return to school at 4.45pm. The cost of the bus will be $15.
Parents if you have not completed the registration note on Compass could you please do so this week, thankyou.
Uniform
Thanks to those students that have returned in the correct uniform. Please ensure that your child has their correct uniform on including correct socks, shoes and tie. It is important that students take pride in their uniform. It would be appreciated if any inappropriate holiday cuts and colours could be taken care of quickly please.
Book Week Parade - 16th August
It's time to start planning Book Week costumes for our Book Week Parade which will be held on Friday 16th August at 9.00am.
Students are asked to come to school dressed as a character from their favourite book.
The theme this year is "Reading is Magic".
On this day we will also be offering pancakes for breakfast at Breakfast Club.
Uniform Shop Opening Hours
Our P&F uniform Shop is open on Tuesday mornings 8.30am - 9.15am. Should you need items outside this time please message through the P&F Facebook page "All Hallows Gulgong P&F & Uniform Shop" and someone from the P&F will arrange a collection from the office for uniform items.
Attendance
A friendly reminder that the goal is for all students to be at school at least 90% of the time. Please stay in communication with the class teachers regarding any absences that your child may have from school.
** A new procedure has started this term. An automated notification of non-attendance (without reasoning) must be reported to parents/carer via SMS at 10am and a reason for absence requested.
Pupil Free Days
Advanced warning that our 2nd and 3rd Pupil Free Days for the year will be held on:
Monday 2nd September - Monday Term 3 Week 7
Friday 25th October - Friday Term 4 Week 2
Canteen
We are desperate for more canteen helpers at the moment. Helpers are required to be in the canteen from 10.30 - 1.30pm. If you’re able to help, can you please email the school office or speak to Brad.
**We have taken milkshakes off the menu.
Breakfast Club
A very big thank you to Coles Mudgee who have come on board with regular donations of food items for our Breakfast Club. We would also like to thank Cobbs Bakery Gulgong and Little Big Dairy Company for their continued support in supplying bread and milk each week. Without their wonderful support we would not be able to provide this service for our students.
For this week we will also offer Hot Milo on Wednesday and Friday.
Garden Club
This week in Garden Club we were back at it, planting! We have managed to plant some seeds for rocket, coriander, lettuce and broccoli in pots and are patiently waiting for our seedlings to emerge. It is very exciting being able to label our seeds! We write down the name of the plant, some of them are very tricky, and we write our name on the back. During Garden Club we grow plants while growing a variety of skills and responsibilities in our beautiful garden space. We are so grateful to have our watering system in place in the main beds, as well as the recent rainfall, as it makes watering the roses in the Mary Garden and our potted herbs that much easier.
Happy gardening, Miss Norris and Mrs Watts
