Dear Parents,
Welcome to Week 5 of Term 3. The term and year for that matter are slipping on by rather quickly. We have another busy week of activities coming up again. We would like to thank all our teachers and parents for organising and supporting all the activities that All Hallows are involved in.

R.E. MATTERS - Walking in the Light of Christ
Thank you to Mrs Kelly and Yr 3 for their beautiful celebration of the Feast of Assumption at mass last Thursday morning.
Yr 3 students led the mass with excellent reading and leading the singing. The behaviour of all our children was very reverent and prayerful. Thankyou to Fr Cong for saying mass and encouraging us.
Christmas Art
The Christmas Story Art Competition provides an opportunity for students in Stage 3 to create art works and written reflections based on one of several scripture passages that depict the birth of Jesus Christ. This Exhibition aims to allow students to develop a greater awareness of the Scriptures through the creation of an artwork connected to the Christmas season. In engaging with the Scriptures in such a way, students have the opportunity to reflect more deeply on the events of the biblical stories and better understand their relevance in their lives today.
With the help and guidance of Art Teacher , Maddie Burton, the students have produced artworks of a very high standard. The students presented their works at last Friday’s school assembly. This week we sent off our school’s Christmas Art entries into the Catholic Education Office for judging.
We LOVE each of them for their individual style and message portrayed, and look forward to hearing the results. The Christmas Art Presentation will be held at Cathedral School, Bathurst on the 6th September, 2024.
Uniform Reminder
Just a friendly reminder of some points from our uniform policy. All students should be taking pride in their uniform and appearance each day at school.
Hair
Hair should be neat and tidy at all times. Shoulder length hair should be tied back and not in the eyes. Radical/trendy haircuts or cuts which may cause the student to be the object of ridicule are not permitted. If in doubt the school should be contacted before having the child’s hair cut. Please ensure hair is brushed/combed each day.
Jewellery
Jewellery is not part of the uniform. Students may wear stud or sleeper earrings only and there may be occasions during sport where these must be removed for safety sake. One bangle or signet ring is permitted. Costume jewellery is not appropriate for wearing at school.
Make-up and Nail Polish are not to be worn to school.
Jump Rope For Heart
This Friday we will launch our Jump Rope for Heart Program. All students will receive a sponsorship form. Please read this form before collecting sponsors as it outlines the purpose of Jump Rope For Heart as well as giving facts about heart disease in Australia All children are encouraged to find sponsors to help this worthy cause. Families are encouraged to set up their own fundraising page with all the information in the brochure.
The amount of money each child raises is not important, it is the awareness of heart health we are concentrating on. In the coming weeks we will be learning new skipping skills in our sport and fitness lessons.
The All Hallows Jump Off Day is a fun, whole school activity that involves all students, teachers and parents, so come along and join in the jumping. All students will be part of a team in their class group. Teams will choose a name and dress up in the theme – Even the teachers are known to join in the dress up!
Keep the date free Tuesday 24th September, 2024
Hope to see you there!

Road Safety
We have had some concerns raised about pedestrian traffic in the peak morning and afternoon periods before and after school. Please ensure that children are leaving the car from the footpath side of the vehicle. This will keep them well clear of any vehicles or buses. Please use the crossing to cross the road. It is the safest location to cross the road.

Gardening Club News
This week at Garden Club we were so excited to look back at how quickly our Romanesco Cauliflower is growing, each photo was taken a week apart! How good is rain and sunshine!
We’ve fed our garden beds again with our shredded paper and are enjoying the warmer weather as our native bees come to visit!
We are looking forward to harvesting our beautiful produce!
Happy gardening, Miss Norris and Mrs Watts
Student Wellbeing
SLEEP FOR KIDS
Sleep is more important than you may think. The average kid has a busy day. There's school, taking care of pets, running around with friends, going to sports training or other activities, and doing your homework. By the end of the day, kids and their bodies need a break. Sleep allows them to rest for the next day.
Your body and your brain need sleep. Though no one is exactly sure what work the brain does when you're sleeping, some scientists think that the brain sorts through and stores information, replaces chemicals, and solves problems while you snooze. Most kids between 5 and 12 get about 9.5 hours a night, but experts agree that most need 10 or 11 hours each night. Sleep is an individual thing and some kids need more than others.
When your body doesn't have enough hours to rest, you may feel tired or cranky, or you may be unable to think clearly. You might have a hard time following directions, or you might have an argument with a friend over something really silly.
Sleep is vitally important and a good night's sleep will result in your child being more alert and ready to learn in the classroom.
