Letter from the Principal - Brad Toole

Dear Parents,

Welcome to Week 5 of Term 3. The term, and year for that matter, are slipping on by rather quickly. We have another busy week of activities coming up again. We would like to thank all our teachers and parents for organising and supporting all the activities that All Hallows are involved in.

Pupil Free Days

I would like to give you advanced warning that our 3rd and 4th Pupil Free Days for the year will be held on:

Monday 13th October - Monday Term 4 Week 1 (Students return Tuesday 14th October)

Friday 7th November - Friday Term 4 Week 4

Welcome

We would like to welcome Olivia Holt to All Hallows. Olivia is completing her Teaching Internship and will be with Mr Rogers and Year 5 over the next 5 weeks. We hope you enjoy your time with us Olivia.

2025 National Principal’s Conference

This week I am attending the National Catholic Education Principal’s Conference from Tuesday to Friday. Sarah Buckle and Kylie Statham will be in charge at school while I am at the conference.

R.E. Matters

The theme for 2025 is…

All Hallows - People of Hope
2025 is a Year of Jubilee!

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION
Sunday 24th August.

This Sunday, Rosie and Kurt will receive the Sacrament of First Holy Communion.      First Holy Communion is a special Catholic sacrament where children receive the Eucharist—the Body and Blood of Christ—for the first time.

This Sacrament is a deeply meaningful event for Catholic children and their families, as it is seen as a spiritual milestone in their faith journey.

It's a reminder of Jesus's Last Supper with his disciples, where he instituted the Eucharist. It's a time for the child to feel closer to Jesus and to understand the importance of receiving the Eucharist regularly.

Yr 3 RETREAT DAY – TOMORROW - 21st August, 2025.

The Year 3 Retreat will be held in All Hallows School library. Throughout the day the Yr 3 children will reflect on what they have learnt in the Sacrament of Communion unit and prepare for First Holy Communion on Sunday. On this day the Yr 3 children may wear ‘mufti clothes’.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION  MASS – SUNDAY 24th August, 2025  - 10.30am

All candidates are asked to assemble outside the church at 10.15am. Other family members will need to take their seats in the church. Each family has their pew reserved at the front of the church. The candidates should be dressed in neat clothes and will wear a white gown to represent them receiving their First Holy Communion.

CHRISTMAS ART COMPETITION

This week we sent off our school’s Christmas Art entries into the Catholic Education Office for judging in this year’s Christmas Art Competition.

With the help and guidance of Mrs Clift, some of our senior students have produced artworks of a very high standard. The students presented their works at Friday’s school assembly, explaining their pieces in detail, describing both their motivation and techniques used in the process of creating the piece.

We love each of them for their individual style and message portrayed, and look forward to hearing the results. The Christmas Art Presentation will be held at Cathedral School, Bathurst on the 12th September 2025.

Little Blessings Postponed

"Little Blessings" Playgroup has been postponed for tomorrow - Thursday 21st August.

We will return next Thursday 28th August.

Sport

Dio Athletics

Good luck to Elsie, Brycen, Ivy, Aubrey, Braxton, Rory, Jett, Lennon, Aliyah, Ruby, Audrey, Issy and Rosie who will represent All Hallows and the Northern Region in various events at the Diocesan Carnival in Dubbo on Friday. Mrs Kelly will be in Dubbo as the team manager. Good luck kids!!

School Production - The Amazing Race - Around the World in One Night.

In 2025, we are pleased to announce  that  we will be putting on a school production.

We will be presenting ‘All Hallows - The Amazing Race’.

We will be hosting performances on:

Thursday 4th September

11.30am - Matinee

6.30pm - Performance

Last week you received a sheet to order your tickets. There are a limited number of tickets (4) for each show for each family. Please note you don’t need tickets for students at school as they will not require one of the seats.

The Opera House has a capacity of 275 seats and this is to accommodate everyone. You will have up until Friday 29th August  to secure your tickets. If we have remaining tickets we will open them up for people to grab extras on Monday 1st September.

Father's Day - Friday 5th September

Our Father’s Day celebrations will be held on Friday 5th September from 8.00am onwards. Year 1 and Mrs Marsh will be in charge of the bacon and egg rolls. We will be shouting coffees in the morning and have a short prayer on the basketball court before we head into class for the day. Please return the form with how many bacon and egg rolls your family will require so we can organise food quantities.

Semester 2 SRC Representatives

Congratulations to the following students who have been voted in by their peers as SRC Reps for Semester 2 to join our Year 6 leaders:

K - Eevee Richards and Reggie Toole

1 - James Mudyara and Blair Nash

2 - Claire Flower and Albert Toole

3 - Indie Jackson and Kurt Howden

4 - Audrey Gray and Mitchell O’Rourke

5 - Issy Cliff and Hartley Stuart

Heart of the Nation Visit

On Friday students will be visited by members of the Heart of the Nation Committee and the NSW Ambulance Service to talk to the students about Heart health and Heart Month.

Book Week

Book Week is being celebrated this week. As we are in the middle of preparing for our  production we have decided not to add any costume pressure this year to our families. Therefore there will be no book week parade this year. We will have a parade in 2026 again.

Road Safety

We have had some concerns raised about pedestrian traffic in the peak morning and afternoon periods before and after school. Please ensure that children are leaving the car from the footpath side of the vehicle. This will keep them well clear of any vehicles or buses. Please use the crossing to cross the road. It is the safest location to cross the road.

Student Wellbeing

To help keep our school community healthy, we ask that children who are unwell remain at home to rest and recover before returning to school. This helps protect others and allows your child the time they need to get better.

Some simple tips to stay well include:

  • Keeping fingernails cut and clean

  • Washing hands regularly with soap and water

  • Covering coughs and sneezes with an elbow or tissue

  • Eating healthy foods and drinking plenty of water

  • Getting a good night’s sleep

Thank you for helping us keep our school a healthy and happy place for everyone.

Sleep for Kids

Sleep is more important than you may think. The average kid has a busy day. There's school, taking care of pets, running around with friends, going to sports training or other activities, and doing your homework. By the end of the day, kids and their bodies need a break. Sleep allows them to rest for the next day.

Your body and your brain need sleep. Though no one is exactly sure what work the brain does when you're sleeping, some scientists think that the brain sorts through and stores information, replaces chemicals, and solves problems while you snooze. Most kids between 5 and 12 get about 9.5 hours a night, but experts agree that most need 10 or 11 hours each night. Sleep is an individual thing and some kids need more than others.

When your body doesn't have enough hours to rest, you may feel tired or cranky, or you may be unable to think clearly. You might have a hard time following directions, or you might have an argument with a friend over something really silly.

Sleep is vitally important and a good night's sleep will result in your child being more alert and ready to learn in the classroom.

End of Year Presentation Changes

After careful consideration we have made the decision to hold this year's awards ceremony during the school day instead of during the evening. The reason we have made the decision is we want to give all students the opportunity to be at the awards ceremony. We have noticed a trend over recent years of less students attending the night time presentation evening. We  will evaluate after the Presentation afternoon this year.

Our Awards Assembly will be held on Thursday 11th December at 1pm at Memorial Hall.
