2024 Newsletter Term 2 Week 6
FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Henry Lawson Festival
As a school we are looking forward to participating in the upcoming Henry Lawson Festival this Saturday.
As a school we will be joining in the Parade at 12 noon on Saturday. We are asking all students and staff that are present in town to come and join us in the parade. We will be meeting in the Bowling Club carpark at 11.40am.
We will be dressing as people from the goldrush and marching as a school group. Students will need to wear jeans, check shirts and olden style hats/cowboy hats or colonial clothes and meet at 11.40am at the Bowling Club carpark.
On Saturday our P&F will be running a BBQ/Street stall outside IGA. This is the major fundraising event for the year.
Attached to this note is the helpers sheet. We are in urgent need of more helpers particularly between 10.00am to 2.00pm. If you're free and can volunteer a few hours your help would be greatly appreciated.
Priest and Principals Conference
Tomorrow and Friday I’ll be attending the Priests and Principals Conference for 2024 in Dubbo. I will be attending the two days along with Father Owen where we will be discussing a number of interesting topics.

R.E. MATTERS - Walking In The Light
In the coming week the members of our All Hallows community are involved in a variety of events and activities - everything from receiving Sacraments, athletic pursuits, end of semester assessments to Christmas Art.
In all of these ‘We Shine.’ – We share our giftedness with others and see their gifts also. However, these are not the only times we can shine.
As we continue through the second half of the term let our faith and our day to day words and actions be a sign of us sharing our gift – To Shine.
First Reconciliation
Tomorrow students from Yr 3 will they make their First Reconciliation. Mrs Kelly will bring the children receiving the Sacrament to the church and meet the families at 12.00pm. Each family has their pew reserved at the front of the church. Year 6 students and siblings will be there to support the candidates.
The candidates may come to school dressed in neat clothes rather than their uniform, especially for their special day. There will be a celebration light lunch in the school hall with the families and Yr 3 friends after the Liturgy.
Thankyou to Mrs Kelly, for preparing the children for this Sacrament throughout the year.
First Holy Communion
Please continue to keep our First Holy Communion candidates in your prayers as they prepare for their special day on Sunday 23rd June. We pray for for Audrey, Iyla, Charlotte, Hamish, Zion, Wayne, Amalea, Ruby, Michaela, Lincoln, Isla and Tamara.
The Year 3 RETREAT DAY will be held on Monday 17th June in the All Hallows Hall. This day is a reflection day to complete the Communion Program being taught in Year 3 this term.
All Yr 3 students will attend the Retreat Day and may come to school in casual clothes on this day.
Year 6 R.E Test
The Year Six R.E Test will be held on Tuesday 18th June ( Wk 8). This is a diocesan wide R.E test with all schools in the Bathurst Diocese participating. The students are preparing and we wish them well in their test.
Christmas Art and Storytelling
This year All Hallows will enter artworks in the Diocesan Christmas Art and Storytelling Exhibition.
The artists from Year Five and Six must create an artwork drawing inspiration from a set ‘Christmas Story’ scripture passage. They then need to write a reflection on their artwork. Mrs Burton has begun working with the students through this process and we thank her for sharing her talent, time and enthusiasm with our students in this special activity.
Literally a ‘Work in Progress’ at the moment, we are looking forward to seeing the finished product early next term.
ATHLETICS CARNIVAL
Thanks everyone for coming to our Athletics Carnival yesterday. It was great to see so much support for our students. Their efforts and sportsmanship shown was amazing. Congratulations to all the students who have qualified for the Northern Region Carnival that will be held in Dubbo at the start of Term 3.
Thankyou to all the parents, grandparents and carers who came to help and cheer us on at the school Athletics Carnival yesterday.
St LAURENCE'S SOCCER GALA DAY
The St Laurence’s, Dubbo Soccer Gala Day will be held on Friday 9th August, 2024.
The day is for all students from Years 2,3,4,5 and 6 and will be held at Lady Cutler Oval, Bligh St, Dubbo. We will travel by bus. The cost is $10 per student. Parents are encouraged to come along and support the teams.
More information has been sent out in Compass and we ask that permission and payment be completed by parents as soon as possible to help with the organisation of teams. We need to register teams soon to give the organisers time to plan the day. All classes will be practicing soccer during Wednesday Sport time to prepare for the carnival.
CANTEEN
We are desperate for more canteen helpers at the moment. Helpers are required to be in the canteen from 10.30 - 1.30pm. If you’re able to help, can you please email the school office or speak to Brad.
**We have taken milkshakes off the menu at the moment and will let you know if they become available again.
BREAKFAST CLUB
We have started a breakfast club at school last week. It is being organised by Mrs Menchin as part of our Wellbeing Program at All Hallows. It is open to all students and breakfast is available from 8.20am - 8.50am.
The cost is being funded initially through our Wellbeing grant money but we will be looking for sponsors to keep it going long term.
We would like to thank Cobb’s Bakery Gulgong for committing a bread donation each week and Big Little Dairy Company for donating milk each week. We really appreciate their support and encourage families to support these amazing businesses.
We have also had families offer donations and offer to help. If you would like to offer support we would apprieciate any donations of cereal, spreads, fruit and or butter. These are things we will require moving forward. Please no products containing nuts. If anyone wants to come and help serve breakfast that is more than ok as well.
GARDEN CLUB NEWS
This week in Garden Club we took a rest from planting, we have most of our winter crop in! Instead we repurposed the fallen leaves from the playground to help mulch our beds for the coming winter, keeping all our plants and seedlings warm like a cosy blanket. Good for the environment and good for our soil.
We also took a moment to enjoy our flowers and make some “Daisy chains” from our Calendula and Cosmos flowers.
As we appreciated our blooming flowers, we took a moment to talk about one of our garden Saints, Saint Rose - She is the patron saint of Peru, Embroidery, Gardening and Cultivation of Blooming flowers. Saint Rose’s Feast day falls later in the year on August 23rd. To find out more about Saint Rose, check out our Garden Saints on the windows behind our garden beds.
Happy Gardening, Miss Norris and Mrs Watts
